Tempo Boy

BANGLADESH INTERNATIONAL ACTION GROUP

Despite the massive foreign aid given to Bangladesh, the majority of the population is getting poorer.

The people are making costly and courageous efforts to take control of their own lives and to improve their conditions, but are opposed by vested interests both inside and outside the country.

The Bangladesh International Action Group (BIAG) consists of a number of national
groups, in Bangladesh and in various western countries, whose members support the efforts of the poor to improve their situation.

BIAG's aims are:

to analyse and publicise the impact of foreign governments' and multilateral agencies' involvement in Bangladesh and to demand that this should benefit the poor.

to campaign against violations of human rights in Bangladesh, especially the repression of people's movements.

to analyse and publicise the role of multinational companies as they affect the lives of the poor majority in Bangladesh, either as producers or consumers.
